9 Extended: Working with the Slope

Complete the questions below before our next class.

  1. A line contains the point A(1, 3) and has a slope of 3. Find the coordinates of two other points on the same line.
  2. A line contains the point A(0, 5) and has a slope of \(\displaystyle{-\frac{2}{3}}\). Find the coordinates of two other points on the same line. (Hint: associate the negative sign with the number in numerator before trying to find other points on the line.)
  3. Consider the point A(1, 1). On a grid, graph a line with a slope of \(\displaystyle{\frac{3}{5}}\) that passes through point A, and a line with a slope of \(\displaystyle{-\frac{5}{3}}\) that also passes through point A. What do you notice about the two lines?

9 Extended Trigonometry Test

On Friday, December 14th we’ll have our test on trigonometry.

To prepare for this test, I suggest you complete the following questions from the textbook. We will discuss answers to these in class on Wednesday.

Exercise 13D questions 1–6 (some are challenging)
Review Set 13A questions 1–4, 7, 8
Review Set 13B questions 1–4, 7

9 Extended Test (Real Numbers, Sets and Radicals)

Our test on real numbers, sets, and radicals (corresponding to material in Chapters 2 and 4 of our textbook) will be on Monday, October 22.

As part of your preparation for the test, I suggest you look at the following review questions from the textbook.

Review Set 2A questions 1–11
(and/or Review Set 2B questions 1–10 if you want extra practice)
Review Set 4A questions 1–7
(and\or Review Set 4B questions 1–6, if you want extra practice)

The final questions in each Review Set are difficult, but give the a try if you want a challenge!
