On Monday, October 24th, we’ll have a test on further integration methods (integration by parts and integration by substitution, there will be no questions on solids of revolution).

Question 8 on page 653 cannot be answered without a calculator, which raises the question “why do they show the no calculator symbol beside it?!”.
I think what they mean is that you shouldn’t answer this question by using your calculator to evaluate a definite integral, but that you should instead find an explicit expression for the antiderivative, and then use your calculator to find the value of \(k\) that satisfies an equation that you can then produce. This one is tricky, but the topic of the section that contains the question is a clue…
